Giving Back Through the Art of Dance
My journey of giving back started in 2012, after Hurricane Sandy devastated so many lives. I felt an overwhelming need to help, and that feeling never left me. That same year, I joined the Sledge Group Inc., and every Christmas Eve, we visited shelter after shelter, spreading love and holiday cheer to families in need.
Inspired to do even more, I began organizing and expanding my own outreach every year. As a dancer and dance teacher, I offered hip hop classes at shelters, hoping that the joy I feel through dance could lift the spirits of others too. Over time, I added annual back-to-school drives to ensure kids had the supplies they needed, Thanksgiving meals so no one went without, and Christmas gifts to bring smiles to young faces.
Supporting the community has always been at the heart of everything I do. Whether through movement, meals, or meaningful moments, my goal is to show up and make a difference.
Though I’ve done much of the hands-on work—shopping, organizing, delivering—I couldn’t have done any of it without the love and support of my friends and family. Their care, generosity, and donations have helped make all of this possible. Together, we’ve been able to show others that they are not forgotten. We’re all we’ve got, and helping each other truly matters.
